When You Work On Christmas Day

Everybody loves the holiday season.
It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year, right? Don’t we wish!
Reality check: The holiday season is complete chaos.
Even though Christmas time is a happy time, people are usually stressed.
Lots to do to prepare for the big day, plus we have to keep up with the usual, including filling prescriptions at the pharmacy.
As December rolls on, and Christmas day draws closer and closer, customers grow more and more stressed. That’s one thing.
The other is when the schedule for Christmas Day comes out and you find that you are on it.
You now have a choice of how to react.
- You could be upset because it’s Christmas and you’re supposed to be spending time with your family.
- You can realize that it isn’t the end of the world and approach the day with a servant’s attitude.
The fact of the matter is that, we, the pharmacists, are greatly needed.
There are people who need pharmacies to be open on Christmas Day to get their life-saving prescriptions.
There are also people who come in to talk for whatever their reason.
Even though you may not want to work on Christmas, try to look at the positive and view it as an opportunity to do good.
Be kind to your employees and customers and spread a little Christmas cheer.
A good attitude or deed could change someone’s day for the better or even save someone’s life – the best present you could ever give or get.
What a privilege!
From the Pharmacist Jerry family to yours, I’d like to wish you a very happy and healthy holiday season.
